Dialysis Nurse Charged With Hiding Camera in Dialysis Center Restroom

Dialysis patients must always remain on alert on and off of the Dialysis Machine. A nurse is accused of hiding a video camera inside a restroom of his workplace and secretly recording.

Michael Klusmeyer, 62, was caught and charged with unlawful videotaping of another without consent in a restroom, according to the Glenview, Illinois Police Department. The DaVita employee, Klusmeyer, placed a key fob with a hidden camera inside it in the women’s restroom, according to Tandra Simonton (Cook County state’s Attorney’s Office Spokeswoman).

The intended victim was a female employee of the center who noticed the camera and reported it to police, Simonton said. The key fob’s hidden camera allegedly contained images of her on it from within the restroom and perhaps could have compromised other patients and employees.

Many at the center are very frustrated and disappointed about the actions. Klusmeyer was arrested and allegedly admitted to placing the camera in the restroom. He appeared for a bail hearing in Cook County and was released on his own recognizance, according to county records. He was ordered to have no contact with the Dialysis Center.

Klusmeyer, is registered in Illinois as a professional nurse, according to state records. His defense attorney, Bill Luby, declined to comment when reached by phone. Klusmeyer is due in court again on Sept. 5, 2019 and while a spokesperson for DaVita did not immediately reply to a request for comment, KidneyBuzz.com will continue to follow this case to conclusion.

Patients should make sure that there are no misplaced or out of the ordinary items in the restroom to avoid secret recordings since the public restrooms are open to anyone.
