The Artificial Implantable Kidney is expected to greatly improve and save the lives of millions of Chronic Kidney Disease and Dialysis patients around the world. While Human Trials are expected to begin at the end of 2017, there is an urgency to begin Human Trials sooner and promptly offer the device to patients. The University of California, San Francisco suggested that a donation of $5.00 or even $1.00 could greatly help (more information below).

According to Dr. Emilio Poggio (Nephrologist at the Cleveland Clinic) there are approximately 600,000 patients currently conducting Dialysis in the United States and 100,000 are on the waiting list for a Kidney Transplant. As most Chronic Kidney Disease patients know, there is a large shortage of available Kidneys for Transplant and only 16,000 patients of the over 100,000 awaiting a Kidney Transplant actually receive one each year. With a growing number of patients being added to the list and the average five (5) to seven (7) year wait time increasing; over 4,500 Chronic Kidney Disease patients die every year while awaiting a Kidney Transplant and more pass away as a result of side effects associated with Dialysis.

The David Family along with Charities Angels, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization,  has begun working with Dr. Shuvo Roy (Lead Researcher of The Kidney Project) to help raise funds through a campaign they call "Juliana's Hope." Juliana Casey (Christian David's niece) began Dialysis when she was 14 years old, and now at 24 years old she has suffered a failed Kidney Transplant and has been deemed ineligible for a Living or Cadaver (Deceased) Kidney Donor.

Juliana's story is not much different than that of many others across the country and around the world who must contend with various challenges associated with Dialysis such as nausea, exhaustion, pain, fluid restrictions, very restricted diet, depression, along with numerous other complications. The Artificial Implantable Kidney will be a small and surgically implanted device that will offer a treatment alternative to Dialysis and the long Kidney Transplant Waiting List. The device is expected to also save a tremendous amount of money in National Healthcare costs.
