Melania Trump was treated and underwent surgery for a kidney condition at Walter Reed Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. This highlights that Chronic Kidney Disease is an insidious (proceeding in a gradual, subtle way, but with harmful effects) disorder that does not discriminate based on gender, race, class, ethnicity, age (Mrs. Trump is only 48 years old and is currently the youngest living First Lady) or any other factor. Although many believe that Kidney Complications are a result of a patient's lifestyle or bad choice, in reality, that typically could not be further from the truth. While all the specifics of the matter have not been fully disclosed, we do know a few critical aspects for the purpose of the procedure and outcome.

By all reports which the KidneyBuzz.com Team was able to research and verify, the purpose of Melania Trump's kidney surgery was that she "had been experiencing an issue with her kidney that her office described as benign (not harmful in effect) but requiring medical attention," according to CNN News. Similar reports were released by Fox News and Reuters News.

Stephanie Grisham (Mrs. Trump's Spokeswoman) said, "The procedure was successful and there were no complications. The first lady looks forward to a full recovery so she can continue her work on behalf of children everywhere." Expected to remain at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for the duration of the week, Melania Trump's recent safe procedure highlights very big issues throughout our country and around the world - Kidney Complications, Chronic Kidney Disease, Dialysis, and the need for more selfless Living Kidney Donors.

While we all hope that Mrs. Trump has a quick recovery and is back on her feet after much-needed rest, some are not as fortunate and suffer full kidney failure or their kidney function begins to slide once diagnosed with a Kidney Complication. Let's get the White House and Mrs. Trump involved in the mission to raise awareness and better support the Chronic Kidney Disease Community by signing the below statement wishing her well and asking her to consider adding Chronic Kidney Disease Awareness and Patient Support (especially End-Stage patients and those in need of a Kidney Transplant) to her broad platform:
