Many Chronic Kidney Disease and Dialysis patients wonder if they will ever get a call for a Kidney Transplant. They choose not to share their stories with others because they do not believe that anyone will be willing to help them. "I'm too old," said one patient. "No one wants to help a guy like me." announced another on the KidneyBuzz Facebook Page. Well, the fact is that there are many reasons why individuals without Chronic Kidney Disease choose to donate to patients and the growing number of Living Kidney Donors are getting patients off of Dialysis sooner and back to a higher quality of life.
Kevin Harrod of Bowling Green, KY, passed an advertisement of a woman in need of a Kidney Donor. He then saw a Facebook post of the same woman when he logged into his Facebook and believed that it was a message from God indicating that he was supposed to be her donor.

Becky Gries, the recipient, was immediately contacted by Mr. Harrod who began the testing process on her behalf (video below). While Kevin had to complete dozens of pages of paperwork and testing procedures he was ultimately found to be a match and donated one of his kidneys to Becky who is now recovering well and no longer has to worry about Dialysis.
This is a great story of care, courage, and success which started with Becky actively sharing her story. Perhaps your donor is out there waiting?
