Cancer is becoming a major cause of death in people with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). In fact, according to the National Kidney Foundation, "The correlation between cancer mortality and kidney disease remained high." The most dramatic correlation between CKD and cancer is among women with breast cancer who were almost twice as likely to die from that disease if they have CKD as well.

There is no need for people with CKD to allow these findings to get them down. "Try to be positive, allow the fear to come in but try not to let the fear dictate how you act, how you are and you can let the joy come into your body as well," Dr. Cohen said.
Beyond cancer, people with CKD have several very serious challenges that they have to contend with on a daily basis, including surgery. The fundamental message this video sends is that you do not have to let fear dictate, you have the power to take control over your condition and all the other complications that are associated with it, including cancer.
